Hi, I'm Mister Reusch.  I'm a freelance illustrator, and I'm lucky to be able to work from my home studio and play all day with my two Boston Terriers, Frankenstein and newly-adopted Hurricane Katrina refugee Mr. Giles.  I couldn't have dogs in my old apartment and it started to make me crazy after a few years, so I started drawing and painting them all the time.  Especially bug-eyed, snorty Boston Terriers, French Bulldogs, and Pugs.  I included them in many of my freelance illustration jobs, and then started to just focus on making lots of fun dog paintings for gallery shows.

I've donated many originals and art prints to dog rescue groups and benefit shows, and in 2006 I started fundraising programs with http://www.bostonbuddies.org and http://www.frenchbulldogrescue.org.  For each group, I created a series of four 14" x 11" paintings showing dogs running through the seasons;  the background of each painting lines up with the others to create the illusion of one big panorama, though the background foliage changes in each according to season.  Four times a year I sent one of the first 10 signed-and-numbered art prints from the series to generous donors who pledged $100 or more to either rescue group.

I accept portrait commissions all the time.  Though my favorite dogs to paint are Boston Terriers, French Bulldogs, and Pugs, I'm happy to paint dogs of all breeds. ( I've painted cats, birds, all kinds of animals, but dogs are by far my favorite subject).  Full color acrylic on 2-ply Bristol 11" x 14"s cost $350, and 16" x 20"s cost $500.  For black and white acrylic paintings on 2-ply Bristol, my 11" x 14"s are $250 and  16" x 20"s are $350.   Larger commissions are painted on stretched canvas for higher fees.  These prices are for private commissions to be hung in the home only;  dog art to be used commercially requires higher fees based on what usage rights you're interested in purchasing. Please email both close-up headshots and full-body photos to misterreusch@misterreusch.com, as well as any ideas you have of what you want to see.   Your painting can be simply of your dog, or you and your dog.   A deposit of 1/2 the agreed-upon fee gets you 3 sketches, and a final sketch based on your feedback.  When the portrait is completed, I email you a jpeg of the final art and ship the painting to you once the balance is paid, via USPS Priority shipping with insurance and delivery confirmation. I look forward to painting your dog!  Many thanks to everyone who's commissioned me.
